2017 Fairfield County Professional Development Day

Crowd of Teachers The 3rd Annual Fairfield County Professional Development Day was held at Bloom-Carroll Middle School on Monday, September 25th. Educators from six districts in Fairfield County joined together for a day of collaboration learning and sharing: Amanda-Clearcreek, Berne-Union, Bloom-Carroll, Fairfield Union, Liberty Union-Thurston, and Walnut Township. Over 50 sessions were available for attendees to select from and customize their day of professional learning. Sessions included topics on Google Classrooms, INFOhio, Social and Emotional Needs of Gifted, Drug Trends in Fairfield County, 21st Century Learning Strategies and more.

Guest speakers for this year's event included Dustin Weaver, Ohio's 2017 Teacher of the Year, and Eric Lowe, co-author of Your School Rocks So Tell People.   During our opening ceremony, Mr. Weaver inspired attendees to make a commit to grow every day, to develop great relationships with their students, and to value what they do as educators.  In the afternoon, Eric Lowe discussed the power of social media in the today's classrooms.   Mr. Lowe shared strategies and tools to increase student achievement in the classrooms and useful resources for educators.
